2020 didn’t discriminate.
2020 may have exposed some breakdowns in the way you’re operating—whether in your home, business, life, or health. But 2020 was also a gift: it allowed us to see where we need to do some work.
Viewing 2020 with Gratitude
I look at 2020 with so much gratitude for the information and integration of the Enneagram and how I’ve been able to use it to navigate really tough stuff.
When I think back 12 years earlier to 2008 and the Great Recession, the way I handled that messy year was a complete and total shitshow.
We can’t control a lot of things that happen in the world, but we can control our reaction and responses to them.
The way I responded in 2008 was not so great, but the way I handle things now looks very different. And that is the beautiful gift of the Enneagram. Which is why today, I want to discuss…
The numbers we go to under stress.
When it comes to stress and the Enneagram, we shouldn’t just be looking at our type, because—although our main type doesn’t change—the way that it gets expressed can.
Case in point: each Enneagram type goes to another number under stress. And it almost looks completely different than our obvious displays of character.
Beyond knowing where we go under stress, another thing that’s really important is understanding the stress numbers of all the other types.
Listen to this week’s podcast to learn them all!
I looked at 2020 with so much gratitude for the information and integration of the Enneagram.
We can’t control a lot of things that happen in the world or in our lives or with people we care about; all we have control of is ourselves and our responses to things.
When we are at our unhealthiest, things don’t necessarily move for the better long term.
The 2 under stress go to the unhealthy 8.
Burnout’s inevitable for a 3 if they don’t reign it in from time to time and take that inventory gut check.
For some people it feels very exposing to feel seen.
A 7 that is not so healthy can appear flaky.
There’s a difference between solitude and isolation.
We go to these stress numbers to try to alleviate the painful things, but it actually creates more of it.
